This project consists of a new, two-story, 52,000-square-foot Amtrak/Greyhound terminal and a new, one-story, 40,000-square-foot bus transfer center.  These buildings are part of a transportation hub which occupies three blocks in downtown Birmingham and includes retail space, offices, and a police substation.  Both structures utilize structural steel framing with composite floors. Foundations for the terminal are drilled piers bearing on rock and foundations for the bus transfer center are aggregate piers.
